IVORY-BILLS  LiVE???!  ...

=> THE blog devoted to news and commentary on the most iconic bird in American ornithology, the Ivory-billed Woodpecker (IBWO)... and... sometimes other schtuff.

-- American Melancholy --

A little off-topic today...

...with thoughts/prayers for the latest victims of American violence.
Ah, two of the greatest, a couple of incredible Jewish kids who helped give voice to a generation now closing in on Social Security and wondering why we're still insecure...

Cut to a concert hall in Utah in 1970... Artie strides out in a flannel shirt--I think it was red--Paul follows, and they open with "Homeward Bound."

Okay, back to the future now the present...

I've since forgiven my mother for buying all six tickets together and forcing me to sit--on what was my first "real" date--with them and my sister and her boyfriend...

This was right before "Bridge Over Troubled Waters Came Out," and they sang that one right near the end...

Okay, a brain-teaser for the oldies out there... What are they really singing about with this one?

No peeking at the comments until you give up... Of course somebody insisted it was written by Dylan (it wasn't), which is kind of a clue...
Another "predator" lurking here e-mailed me and let me know the YouTube link I referenced had been removed for copyright violations.

One couldn't even access the comments, which I thought would provide a useful background for any discussion. I did find another copy of the song on YouTube, but since I generally support copyright laws, I'm not going to post it. I did listen to make sure it was the right one, however, but since I own a couple of copies of "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme," I don't think I'll catch any bad karma for playing it once.

The song is "The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine," and the question I posed above is now available.

My apologies for any frustration anyone encountered...
