-- Followup/Update --

 ----------------------------------------------------

In the prior post I put in a plug for The National Aviary (501c3 nonprofit) as a destination for any charitable donations you might wish to make — and of course that holds ANY time of year, not just at the holidays. At the time, I didn't know of a way to direct your contribution specifically to their “Project Principalis” (for the IBWO), but Dr. Latta informs me that it is do-able:

He says donations made through this page will indeed go to Proj. Princ.:

...or alternatively you can write a check to The National Aviary and indicate on the memo line that it is for Project Principalis. Mail it directly to:

Director, Conservation and Field Research

....and be sure to let your uncle who won the state lottery know about this ;)  Thanks.....

-- ...And, a Happy Festivus to all!! ;) --

-------------------------------------------------------

Hey all, just popping in briefly at this special “giving” time of year to put in a plug for The National Aviary which, as most of you know, put forth some of the last substantive published evidence for the persistence of the Ivory-bill (in central Louisiana). If you care to include them in your end-of-year charitable giving they have many ongoing projects/activities dedicated to the appreciation of birds and conservation, in addition to the IBWO “Project Principalis.”

Online info about them is here:

https://www.aviary.org/about-us/

Their page specific to the Ivory-billed Woodpecker is here:

https://www.aviary.org/conservation/projects/project-principalis/

And you can donate online here:

https://national-aviary.givingfuel.com/project-principalis

(note, donations can't be directed specifically to the IBWO search -- EDIT: yes, they can; see next post 12/18).

Finally, their snail mail contact info is:

The National Aviary

700 Arch St.

Pittsburgh, PA. 15212

ph. 412-323-7235

Email:  info@aviary.org

(p.s.... I have no affiliation with the Aviary)
