-- Another Pic For Folks To Be Concerned Over ;-) --

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here...: http://tinyurl.com/lczgzm [addendum: the felonious photo has now been replaced]

And another installment of Bill P.'s tenuously tantalizing Tennessee tracking tale HERE.

...Seriously, I want to again thank Bill for offering his readers more of the flavor of the official search process than other participants have been willing or free to do (maybe they are all saving up their material for future books).

I certainly hope that "Earth Matters" came up with that photo of a flying pileated woodpecker, captioned as an ivory-bill, and not BirdLife International.

Interesting how these things just continue to fester out there on the Interwebs, damaging the credibility of the organizations that publish them. They remind me of sea turtles that lay their eggs, crawl back into the sea and never know what became of them.

I should relax and let them hang themselves, I guess. But the illustrator, editor and Science Chimp in me keeps hollering for the truth.

Julie, I actually think I saw this photo at 2 other sites before seeing it at Earth Matters, so I don't believe it originated with them (nor do I think it originated from BirdLife), but don't recall the other sites to try to track back where it started from; others are just copying the news piece and passing it along, unfortunately.

Well! I see the pic in question has now been changed to a more assuredly IBWO depiction... One good thing about the Web is the ease/speed with which corrections can be made.
